Detailní popis
"Dear students, have you ever wondered about how your cultural identity affects how you see and interact with the world? Or about how the development of modern technology transforms cultural development all around the world? The World Cultures course seeks to provide you with the skills and knowledge necessary for answering these questions and more! Join me on a journey around the world where we learn about how religion, science, and nature shape different world cultures and learn to appreciate their diversity. Enrolling in this course will allow you to expand your knowledge about the richness of world cultures, teach you how to critically engage them as well as fortify your analytical skills and engagement with fundamental research across different social science disciplines. Thus, this course represents a perfect precursor to other CTM courses, such as International Relations, and taking it will provide you with a knowledge base that is very useful for succeeding in them!"
Your Teacher Anne-Maria
The World Cultures course focuses on providing students with an introduction to the study of the diversity of the world’s cultures in theory and practice. It provides them with fundamental readings in social sciences and covers a wide range of themes, including cultural development, the relationship between culture and nature, the history of the evolution of world cultures, and the many facets of cultural identity. The course is structured in seven thematic units which provide students with a progressive understanding of the various issue areas in cultural studies. The course encourages students to create their own understanding of the richness of world cultures and critically engage with contemporary research and case studies.
